Linda "Frisky" Whittig One of the questions I always get asked is how exactly someone gets into fire dancing. My introduction to the fire arts was when I attended Burning Man for the first time in 2002. I was completely mesmorized but figured there wasn't a fire community in oh-so-conservative Boise. The next year I returned to Burning Man and my awe for fire dancing was refueled (pun intended). A few weeks later at the Hyde Park Street Fair, I met the Kittens and started taking lessons shortly thereafter. Now I'm proud to be one of those fire dancers each year at Burning Man. I am a graphic artist by day and creativity is a big part of my life - both my own and appreciation for the work of others. I love to cook and am working on becoming a wine aficionado (practice, practice, practice!). I also enjoy road cycling, wandering the foothills on sunny days, hitting the dance clubs downtown, and hanging out with friends regularly at Lucky 13. Traveling is one of my passions and I am always looking forward to my next big adventure. Fire dancing has brought a lot of interesting people, experiences and opportunities to my life, not to mention a ton of fun! And it's amazing the fire community that has grown to exist in Boise over the last 4 years! I'm thrilled to be part of it. |
